Position Overview:
The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the business within the flexible packaging sector, with a key focus on restructuring and optimising operations in preparation for a potential sale. This role requires a strong leader with deep knowledge of the packaging industry, a proven track record of managing complex operations, and a hands-on approach to implementing strategic initiatives that increase profitability, improve operational efficiency, and position the business for sale.
Business Structuring for Sale:
- Lead efforts to enhance business operations, financial performance, and overall value in preparation for a potential sale.
- Collaborate with external advisors, including financial consultants, legal teams, and investment bankers, to execute the business sale strategy.
- Develop and implement a roadmap for preparing the company for sale, including operational streamlining, financial restructuring, and optimizing asset management.
- Ensure the business is compliant with relevant regulatory and industry standards, making it an attractive proposition for potential buyers.
Operational Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the flexible packaging business, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and high-quality product delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimising production processes, reducing waste, and enhancing operational performance.
- Manage key functions such as production, logistics, sales, and customer service to ensure they align with the overall business strategy and objectives.
Financial Performance and Strategy:
- Manage P&L and budgets, ensuring financial targets are met while optimizing costs and maximizing profitability.
- Work closely with the finance team to enhance financial reporting, ensure accurate forecasting, and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies for growth, profitability, and operational efficiency, focusing on long-term value creation.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to senior management and department heads across the business.
- Foster a high-performance culture, with an emphasis on teamwork, accountability, and customer-centricity.
- Lead talent development initiatives to ensure the business has the right team in place to succeed both during and post-sale.
Market & Industry Knowledge:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions within the flexible packaging sector.
- Identify opportunities for business development, product innovation, and market expansion to drive growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders within the packaging ecosystem.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Identify and mitigate risks related to business operations, financial stability, and market positioning.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, particularly those relevant to packaging and sustainability.
