Your mission
ILL, a world leader in neutron science and technologies, is hiring a coordinator for European projects. You will be part of the Partnerships and Communication Service (PACS). Your mission is to significantly increase the number and quality of proposals led by and involving ILL in the coming years.
In particular, the ILL is looking to expand its portfolio of European projects mainly from Horizon Europe's Pillar One (infrastructure, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, etc.) to science-focused projects in Pillar Two, leveraging exciting new scientific opportunities after a comprehensive facility upgrade and helping to deliver an ambitious scientific strategy at ILL. This role complements an existing position focused on project coordination and reporting.
Your tasks
You are responsible for:
- Lobbying at national, European and Commission levels to create future calls tailored to the needs of the ILL;
- Monitoring current and future work programmes to identify the most suitable and promising calls to which to respond;
- Networking with organisations in Europe (e.g. LENS, LEAPS, EIROforum, etc.) to establish a range of partners and contacts as potential consortium members in proposals and projects;
- Coordinating submission of proposals;
- Contributing to creation of proposals and supporting ILL staff in proposal writing, including creation of supporting graphics, budget construction, etc.;
- Writing more generic parts of proposals (e.g. impact and implementation);
- Coordinating accepted proposals as part of the European Office team.
Your profile
- Higher university degree in a scientific or technical domain or project management (or equivalent);
- Recent and significant experience, including a strong track record, in preparation and submission of national and preferably EU proposals;
- In-depth knowledge of European Commission methodology and terminology;
- Excellent communication skills for lobbying and networking;
- Excellent written communication and editing skills in English;
- Experience in an international research environment would be appreciated;
- Experience in project management.
