About the job
Scaleway released its Serverless Functions and Containers offers less than a year ago, allowing customers to focus on their code, while we configure, deploy, and scale the underlying infrastructure. We see serverless as the foundation of a generic cloud-based programming environment where users can create complex orchestrations of functions, containers, and microservices, and transparently scale a range of applications at huge scale.
As a DevOps engineer in the Serverless team, you will be responsible for innovating on, improving, and maintaining all aspects of the system. We are a small, dedicated team with a lot of scope and flexibility, so an important part of your role will be defining and driving the future direction of serverless at Scaleway.
We are a generalist team, where each member works on all areas of the system. At the core of the platform is Kubernetes and Knative, which handle the execution and scaling of users’ Functions and Containers. On top of this, we use and contribute to a number of open-source projects such as Tekton, Kourier, Kaniko and Kata. We integrate and work closely with a number of other teams at Scaleway, including Observability and Logging (using technologies like Prometheus, fluentd and Grafana), as well as Messaging and Queueing (using technologies like NATS, SQS and Benthos). We also develop and support associated developer tools, such as our Terraform provider, our Serverless Framework plugin, and the Scaleway CLI.
