Duties and Responsibilities :
As part of the Architecture team of 5 people, reporting to Architecture Director, you will join a new team in charge of the development of a new DWDM product line. You will have the following responsibilities:
- Understanding with the PLM (Product Line Manager) the Product Vision. Explain and communicate what is expected from the Product to R&D team and detail technical specifications if required.
- Understanding with R&D developers and architects the Technical Debt and integrate it in the Product Backlog and Roadmap.
- Defining and communicating with PLM and R&D Program Manager a Product roadmap based on Product objectives. POs and EPM (Engineering Project Manager) of dependent Products could be involved as well.
- Guaranteeing that the Product Backlog covers all stages of Product creation including design and development with all POs involved on the Product.
- Guaranteeing high level requirements are covered in the Product Backlog with all POs involved on the Product.
- Make sure the Team has a minimal set of standards for Product quality such as but not limited to: DoD (Definition of Done), DoR (Definition of Ready), test coverage, criticity of bugs, documentation.
- Guaranteeing the Product Backlog is kept clean, clear, detailed, and refined as the development progresses.
- Ordering the Product Backlog based on roadmap and changing requirements.
- Drawing scenarios with team and stakeholders when negotiations and trade-offs are necessary. Decisions are made between PO and stakeholders (PLM, Management). Then, liaising with the team and stakeholders to communicate decisions.
- Keeping team and stakeholders informed about the status of the Product.
- Monitoring and evaluating with team leaders, managers, directors Products’ roadmap using estimative methods.
- Participating (if valuable for the PO or the Team) in Scrum events: Review, Retrospective, Planning and recommended meetings like
- the Refinement meeting. PO is optional for the Daily Scrum meeting (only when required by the Team).
- Assisting the Scrum Team to meet the objectives of each Sprint, working closely with them throughout the development process. For a multi-POs structure for a Product, if the PO is not working directly with a Team, the Team of POs would work on how to support the Teams.
- Identifying risks and areas for improvement regarding the Product.
Profile and skills:
You are an autonomous, team-player, proactive engineer with the following skills and experience:
General
- Master degree or equivalent
- 15+ years with 3+ years in a Product Owner position
- Fluent in both English and French (oral, written)
- Knowledge on Scrum, Kanban, agile @scale approaches, and Agile Principles.
Technical :
- Knowledge on the Market, Products and Technologies involved in the Product.
- Working knowledge of Product architecture
- Understanding the minimum requirements that a Product must meet to be fit for sale.
- Knowledge on Agile tools (Jira, Confluence, …)
- Knowledge of user-centered design principles.
Behavioral indicators :
- Ability to work with large teams and international Teams.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and make decisions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
