Job Announcement Text:

Applications are invited for 2 postdoctoral research positions at the Astrophysics department of CEA in Saclay (Paris, France) and at the Institute of Space Sciences (Barcelona, Spain), in the context of the PEBBLES project, a research program funded by the European Research Council (ERC).

The launch of the PEBBLES project enables us to build a group of expertise to tackle major issues regarding our understanding of early dust evolution during the disk-building phase. We seek to hire two postdoctoral collaborators to carry out observational investigations on the evolution of dust grains during the early stages of disk formation (protostars). They will be key players to perform analysis of radio to infrared observations of the protostellar dust, and interpret the data thanks to detailed synthetic observations, and work with collaborators developing new dust models implemented in radiative transfer tools, and applied to physical models for protostars (RAMSES MHD code). The successful applicants will have access to a large collection of multi-scale data from both MHD numerical simulations and observing facilities, and strong local expertise.

The postdoctoral research associates hired will join the star formation group of the CEA-Saclay Astrophysical Department close to Paris, or the star formation group of the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE) in Barcelona.

Candidates in the field of star formation, disk formation, and dust physics are strongly encouraged to contact the PI for more information. We seekespecially candidates with experience analyzing (sub-)millimeter interferometric observations of the dust emission, infrared spectra of the dense ISM and/or disks. One of the positions will also be dedicated to the analysis of synthetic observations from radiative transfer tools applied to MHD models of protostellar evolution. The positions offer competitive salaries including full benefits, as well as generous traveling money for conferences and collaborations. The positions are funded for up to five years, depending on the candidate availability and performance, with a flexible starting date.

Applications received by November 20th, 2023 will receive full consideration. The positions will remain open until filled.
Applicants should send a CV, a list of publications, a brief (2-3 pages) statement of research summary and interests, and arrange for 2 letters of reference to be sent by the same date.
