Ingénieur Safety Automobile (h/f) – CDI
TOLV
Grenoble
TOLV is a Mission-driven Company that converts thermal vehicles (diesel or gasoline) into 100% electric vehicles. This process is known as retrofitting, which has been officially authorized in France since April 2020.
At the heart of this innovation is a simple observation: there are over one billion thermal vehicles on Earth, responsible for approximately 30% of global CO2 emissions. Instead of scrapping these vehicles to produce another billion clean vehicles, we have decided to give them a second life by converting them to electric power.
Currently, the company employs around thirty employees at two locations (Paris and Grenoble), and we are constantly searching for talented individuals to strengthen our teams. If you wish to contribute to making mobility cleaner and more accessible, and if you share our values and ambitions, we invite you to apply without hesitation!
MISSIONS
The safety engineer ensures that the developed products comply with functional safety requirements for the customer (severity and frequency of failures) and reliability (frequency of breakdowns). To achieve this, the safety engineer analyzes systems and provides recommendations to the product development teams.
They propose a set of tests to validate product compliance and draft documents based on existing standards and recommendations (product quality and safety proof methodology and embedded system within the product).
This work requires precision and concentration for the analysis and drafting of the following documents: product safety requirements derived from the expected safety level (safety goals) and definition of safety tests and final verification of compliance.
Redacting of functional safety requirements for the product specification (prior to development)
Study and redacting of the safety methodology: planning, team formation, objective definition, tool and method selection (using current standards such as ISO26262, AUTOSAR)
Study client specifications and supplier documentation
Identify and analyze system-related risks
Define technical, regulatory, and normative requirements to achieve safety, reliability, or maintainability goals
Draft reliability and safety documents and ensure their ongoing updates throughout the project
Issue additional requirements in case the identified risk is deemed unacceptable
Failure Analysis using tools such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), FTA (Fault Tree Analysis), safety priorities, etc. (prior to and during product development)
Write safety reports using analysis of failure modes, effects, and criticality (FMEA) and fault trees
Prepare regulatory safety files on behalf of control/supervisory authorities (e.g., transport regulatory authorities)
Ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental design constraints for the products
Communicate and provide advice to business and development teams
Ensure the integration of safety-related work results in product definition and manufacturing processes
Definition of safety tests (rules and constraints) and validation sheets (method)
Calculate system risks in terms of reliability, safety, maintainability, and availability
Analyze the system and its functioningCollect necessary data for failure studies through feedback (failures, breakdowns, etc.)Analyze data in terms of reliability, maintainability, and availability calculations
Estimate failure indicators (mean time between failures, mean time to repair, etc.) and associated costs
Anticipate feature modifications to be integrated or appropriate operating limits (calibration) and define tests to validate operating modes in relation to system modeling tools
Documentation, Compliance, and Certification
Generate documentation based on technical documents provided by sourcing and various teams, following safety and quality standards
Validate the quality assurance method in terms of compliance and functional safety
Validate all tests, write or validate test reports
Create documentation for product safety and security
Prepare certification or partner files (equivalent safety file, EICPS)
