Caranx Medical is looking for a Data Manager to lead data governance, quality, and compliance in the development of AI-based Software as a Medical Device. The role involves creating and managing data processes, ensuring regulatory adherence, and maintaining high data integrity for AI model development. The Data Manager will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to oversee data curation, annotation, security, and documentation, aligning with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Data Management Process

  • Maintain and refine data management workflows to optimize efficiency and compliance.
  • Standardize and analyze medical datasets for AI model training and validation.
  • Update and develop Python scripts for data curation and automation.
  • Organize and oversee data annotation tasks, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Collect, process, and escalate bug and issue reports for resolution.
  • Develop tracking tools and generate data reports for process monitoring.
  • Ensure thorough documentation aligned with internal Quality Management System (QMS) standards.

Data Quality Control

  • Design and implement data quality and validation protocols to meet regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Oversee biomedical database consistency and integrity.
  • Validate and verify electronic datasets before sharing with relevant teams.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Act as a liaison between data management and AI development teams to address data access and annotation needs.
  • Manage relationships with third-party data providers and service suppliers.

IT & System Management

  • Participate in the design and validation of biomedical database systems and data acquisition interfaces.
  • Ensure data platforms comply with industry standards (HIPAA, GDPR, FDA, MDR, ISO 13485).

Project Management

  • Coordinate and oversee data annotation campaigns, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Support recruitment, contracts, and invoicing related to third-party data annotation contributors.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data management, healthcare data governance, or AI-driven medical applications.
  • Strong understanding of SaMD regulatory frameworks and ethical AI data practices.
  • Expertise in analyzing and interpreting medical imaging and data in cardiology-related fields.
  • Experience handling DICOM medical data format.
  • Experience in Python and basic knowledge of SQL and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data validation and bias detection.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in clinical research, biomedical data curation, or AI validation.
  • Familiarity with data security best practices and privacy laws (HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA).
  • Previous work in a regulated AI-driven healthcare environment.
  • Certification in Data Governance, Clinical Data Management, or Compliance Standards.
