Who are we?

Syntetica was founded in 2023 by Marco Bertone (LSE, former Head of Growth at Selency) and Louis Monsigny (PhD). Our mission is ambitious: to decarbonise the textile industry by eliminating fossil-based materials from the production of synthetic textiles. We have developed a groundbreaking technological process that recycles synthetic textile waste, starting with nylon.

Since its inception, Syntetica has achieved remarkable milestones:

  • Secured €4.2M in funding from prestigious investors, including EQT Ventures, the family offices of Peugeot Family Office and the Etam Group, and athletes such as Paul-Henri Mathieu and Jean-Éric Vergne to accelerate growth and build a pre-industrial facility.
  • Forged key partnerships with major textile players such as Etam, Victoria's Secret, and major fast fashion & sportswear brands
  • Assembled a core team of 11 experts, over half of whom hold PhDs in chemistry.

Your role at Syntetica

As R&D Technician / Technicien(ne) Chimiste, you will play a critical, hands-on role in conducting lab-scale R&D experiments, performing chemical analyses, literature research and managing lab operations. This role is ideal for someone passionate about chemistry, eager to innovate, and meticulous in their scientific approach.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Development

  • Collaborate with the R&D and engineering teams to analyse data, interpret results, and contribute to process improvements
  • Carry out literature studies to stay at the forefront of scientific advancements in polymer recycling and organic chemistry.

Analysis & Reporting

  • Characterization of monomers & polymers properties (including HPLC, NMR, DSC, TGA, rheology, etc)
  • Document experiments meticulously and prepare technical reports to share findings with the broader team.

Maintenance & lab management

  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Manage lab operations, including inventory control, safety compliance, and ensuring an efficient working environment.
